Substance Abuse Prevention
Substance Abuse
Services are designed to meet the individual needs of each adolescent and adult as well as their families. Services include:
·  Drug and Alcohol Screening/Assessment
·  Drug Testing
·  Educational Programs
·  Individual and Group Counseling
·  Intensive outpatient counseling
·  Medical detoxification
·  Residential
·  ADSAP (DUI) Services
·  Relapse treatment
 
Outpatient Program
 
Outpatient Treatment Goals
It is our belief that there are several treatment goals, which must be addressed within the program and to assist in the continuum of care upon completion.  Some of these goals include:
·         Develop an understanding and acceptance of the illness of chemical dependency.
·         Recognize defensive behaviors, which are associated with the illness.
·         Develop an understanding of out emotions and feelings and to express them in a more open and honest manner.
·         Develop and maintain a chemically free lifestyle.
·         Develop an understanding of self-help support groups.
·         Develop social and recreational alternatives to meet self-worth needs for a recovering lifestyle.
·         Recognize that the responsibility for recovery lies within the individual and to begin to develop a personal recovery program. 
 
Program Phases
·         Screening- Staff reviews information from the referral source and meets with the potential client to determine the need for treatment.
·         Evaluation- This phase can last up to three (3) hours.  During this time the client is involved in a variety of assessment procedures.
·         Treatment Plan- This formal document drafted by the staff and client outlines treatment objectives and goals.
·         Treatment- It is a series of individual meetings and classes on aspects of the disease.
·         Aftercare- Is a joint plan drafted by staff and client that develops an effective support system for recovery and continues the work of treatment.
·         Follow-Up- Is a contact made during the first year after treatment to assess the client's progress in growth. 

Intensive Outpatient Program
 
Intensive Outpatient Treatment goals
Recovery from chemical dependency is a life long journey.  Each day, through treatment, someone takes the first step on that journey.  Some of our ROADMAP TO RECOVERY GOALS are:
·         Recognize that the responsibility for recovery lies within the individual and begin to develop a personal recovery program.
·         Develop an understanding and acceptance of the illness of chemical dependency.
·         Recognize defensive behaviors which are associated with the illness.
·         Develop an understanding of emotions and feelings and express them in a more open and honest manner.
·         Develop and maintain a chemical-free lifestyle.
·         Develop an understanding of self-help support groups.
·         Develop social and recreational alternatives to meet self-worth needs for recovery lifestyle.
 
Program
Provide individuals with an opportunity to experience the therapeutic components of treatment on an outpatient basis.
 
Admission Criteria:
Client must exhibit problems due to his/her substance use/abuse and be appropriate for outpatient (versus inpatient) treatment.
 
Treatment:
Individual counseling- Opportunity for client to deal with the private issues of their life and to help assess their own substance abuse.

Group Therapy and Group Interaction:
  • Dramatic presentation- Destructive nature of chemical abuse.  Clients identify their own behaviors and consequences to themselves and others, due to their use.
  • Factual Presentations- Basic information an aspects of disease and recovery.  Client gains factual information about drug and alcohol abuse and dependency.
  • Recovery Skills- Recovery and coping.  Client gains insight into the principles of recovery and coping.  Relapse prevention concepts are included.
Aftercare:
An integral part of the entire program.  Client will participate in individual counseling and self-help groups.
 
Intake And Assessment And Treatment Planning:
Usually takes two hours

Treatment:
·         Seven (7) weeks with:
·         21 sessions
·         3 sessions per week
·         3hours each session
 
Aftercare:
One (1) individual counseling session per week (optional)
 
Follow Up: face to face or other contact with counselor to assess recovery
 
Prevention
 
The prevention services that we provide include:
*Alcohol and Drug Education in the schools
*Alcohol and Drug Education in the community
*Alcohol and Drug Education presentations.
 
Drug Education Classes 
Six (6) hours of education.
Information Provided: Cross Addiction, Alcohol, Prescription Drugs, Marijuana, Methamphetamines.
